PKF Benchmarker Reports can help you make business decisions that affect your property’s
financial performance, such as:
- Increasing Revenues,

- Building a Bigger Bottom-Line.
WHAT IS A BENCHMARK REPORT?
PKF Benchmarker Reports is a service that allows hotel owners and operators to target a
select group of hotels to compare to their own, be it under the parameters of market segment,
geographic area, or competitive set. PKF’s Trends database contains over 650 financial
statements, representing a variety of branded and independent accommodation types, in markets all across Canada.
Two standard Benchmarker Reports are available:
1. Summary Income Statement
($500 plus HST)
Provides a consolidation of the revenues and expenses for major departments.
2. Income Statement With Full Departmental Statements, and Payroll Cost Analysis
($1,000 plus HST)
Provides reports detailing revenues and expenses for the following hotel departments: Rooms, Food and Beverage, Telecommunications, Administrative & General, Marketing, and Property Maintenance & Utilities. Salaries and Wages, along with employee benefits, for each department are also included.
WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO ORDER BENCHMARKER REPORTS?
Benchmarker Reports are only available to current Trends data partners – those properties who submit useable financial information that is entered into our annual Trends operations database. Trends data partners receive a FREE annual Trends in the Hotel Industry – Canadian Edition, a $1,000.00 value. PKF requires authorization by the General Manager or ownership of the subject hotel prior to running a Benchmarker Report.
To become a Data Contributor, simply provide us with the most recent annual income statement with departmental details, and a balance sheet for your hotel(s) or phone and ask for a Trends questionnaire for completion.
CONFIDENTIALITY IS PARAMOUNT
To preserve confidentiality, all Benchmarker Reports use only aggregate figures from the requested hotel sample. Confidential information for individual properties, hotel brands, management firms, and owners will never be disclosed by PKF Consulting. In choosing comparable/competitive hotel properties, there are 5 simple rules --- you must choose from any of the following:
- 4+ Properties,
- 3+ Brands,
- 3+ Ownership Groups,
- 3+ Management Firms, or
- A combination of the above.
Confidentiality, which is essential to PKF’s business, is protected to the fullest extent.
