December 2007

  • In December 2007, PKF’s national hotel sample experienced an increase of 0.3 percentage points in occupancy from December 2006 to 47.9%.  The most significant provincial occupancy increases were reported in the Yukon (up 9.3 points), Manitoba (up 3.7 points) and Saskatchewan (up 3.6 points).
  • The December 2007 average daily room rate for hotels tracked by PKF increased by 4.7% from December 2006 to $120.79.  The most significant provincial average daily room rates increases were reported in Saskatchewan (up 11.1%), Alberta (excluding Resorts) up 9.6% and British Columbia (up 8.4%).
  • Revenue per available room for PKF’s sample increased by 5.4% to $57.81 in December 2007 compared with $54.87 in December 2006.

 

November 2007

  • In November 2007, PKF’s national hotel sample experienced a 1.1 point rise in occupancy from November 2006 to 62.7%.  The most significant provincial occupancy increases occurred in Newfoundland (up 8.7 points) and Northwest Territories (up 6.3 points).
  • The November 2007 average daily room rate for hotels tracked by PKF increased by 3.7% from November 2006 to $120.07.  The most significant provincial average daily room rate increases were experienced in Alberta (excluding resorts) up 9.2%, Saskatchewan (up 7.5%) and British Columbia (up 6.2%).
  • Revenue per available room for PKF’s sample increased by 5.6% to $75.28 in November 2007 compared with $71.32 in November 2006.

October 2007

  • In October 2007, the PKF national hotel sample reported an occupancy level of 69.1%.  The most significant provincial occupancy increases occurred in Northwest Territories (up 10.7 points), Newfoundland (up 9.8 points) and Nova Scotia (up 3.0 points).
  • The October 2007 average daily room rate for hotels tracked by PKF increased by 4.7% from October 2007 to $126.91.  The most significant provincial average daily room rate increases were experienced in Alberta (excluding Alberta Resorts) up 11.7%, Yukon (up 11.2%) and Northwest Territories (up 9.8%).
  • Revenue per available room for PKF’s sample increased by 7.2% to $87.64 in October 2007 compared with $81.75 in October 2006.

  • In September 2007, PKF’s national hotel sample experienced a 0.4 point decrease in occupancy from September 2006 to 75.5%.  The most significant provincial occupancy increases occurred in Newfoundland (up 8.1 points) and Northwest Territories (up 6.4 points).
  • The September 2007 average daily room rate for hotels tracked by PKF increased by 4.2% from September 2006 to $137.20.  The most significant provincial average daily room rate increases were experienced in Alberta (excluding resorts) up 10.7%, Saskatchewan (up 9.6%) and Northwest Territories (up 8.7%).
  • Revenue per available room for PKF’s sample increased by 3.6% to $103.56 in September 2007 compared with $99.93 in September 2006.

  • In August 2007, PKF’s national hotel sample achieved a 77.2% occupancy level, an increase of 0.4 occupancy points from August 2006.  The most significant provincial occupancy increases occurred in Saskatchewan (up 6.2 points), Newfoundland (up 4.3 points) and New Brunswick (up 4.2 points).
  • The August 2007 average daily room rate for hotels tracked by PKF increased by 1.7% from August 2006 to $135.67.  The most significant provincial average daily room rate increases occurred in Alberta (excluding resorts) up 11.8%, Saskatchewan (up 8.3%) and British Columbia (up 5.0%).
  • Revenue per available room for PKF’s sample increased by 2.2% to $104.77 in August 2007 compared with $102.48 in August 2006.

  • In July 2007, PKF’s national hotel sample achieved a 73.3% occupancy level, an increase of 0.6 occupancy points from July 2006.  The most significant provincial occupancy increases occurred in Saskatchewan (up 6.2 points), New Brunswick (up 4.6 points) and Nova Scotia (up 4.3 points).
  • The July 2007 average daily room rate for hotels tracked by PKF increased by 2.7% from July 2006 to $136.93.  The most significant provincial average daily room rate increases occurred in Alberta (excluding resorts) up 11.8%, Saskatchewan (9.4%) and Northwest Territories (7.6%).
  • Revenue per available room for PKF’s sample improved by 3.5% to $100.41 in July 2007 compared with $96.97 in July 2006.

  • In June 2007, PKF’s national hotel sample achieved a 74.0% occupancy level, an increase of 1.7 occupancy points from June 2006.  The most significant provincial occupancy increases occurred in Manitoba (up 8.2 points), Saskatchewan (up 6.5 points) and New Brunswick (up 4.5 points).
  • The June 2007 average daily room rate for hotels tracked by PKF increased by 3.3% from June 2006 to $136.46.  The most significant provincial average daily room rate increases occurred in Alberta (excluding resorts) up 9.1%, Saskatchewan (7.6%) and Manitoba (4.8%).
  • Revenue per available room for PKF’s sample improved by 5.7% to $101.03 in June 2007 compared with $95.62 in June 2006.

  • In May 2007, the PKF national hotel sample reported an occupancy level of 68.7%.  The most significant provincial occupancy increases occurred in Saskatchewan (up 13.0 points), Northwest Territories (up 11.7 points), and Newfoundland (up 7.1 points).
  • The May 2007 average daily room rate for hotels tracked by PKF increased by 1.3% from May 2006 to $127.62.  The most significant provincial average daily room rate increases were experienced in Alberta (excluding Alberta Resorts) up 10.6%, Northwest Territories (up 9.4%) and Saskatchewan (up 8.7%).
  • Revenue per available room for PKF’s sample increased by 1.2% to $87.73 in May 2007 compared with $86.70 in May 2006.

  • In April 2007, the PKF national hotel sample reported an occupancy level of 60.4%.  The most significant provincial occupancy increases occurred in the Northwest Territories (up 15.7 points), Newfoundland (up 7.5 points) and Manitoba (up 5.5 points).
  • The April 2007 average daily room rate for hotels tracked by PKF increased by 3.6% from April 2006 to $118.68.  The most significant provincial average daily room rate increases were experienced in Alberta (excluding Alberta Resorts) up 10.6%, the Yukon (up 10.2%) and Newfoundland (up 7.9%).
  • Revenue per available room for PKF’s sample increased by 3.5% to $71.73 in April 2007 compared with $69.28 in April 2006.

  • In March 2007, the PKF national hotel sample experienced a 1.5 point increase in occupancy from March 2006. The most significant provincial occupancy increases occurred in the Yukon (up 8.1 points), Manitoba (up 6.4 points) and Prince Edward Island (up 3.8 points).
  • The March 2007 average daily room rate for hotels tracked by PKF increased by 4.9% from March 2006 to $119.98.  The most significant provincial average daily room rate increases were experienced in the Yukon (up 18.2%), Alberta (excluding Alberta Resorts) up 9.5%, British Columbia (up 8.4%).
  • Revenue per available room for PKF’s sample increased by 7.5% to $75.40 in March 2007 compared with $70.13 in March 2006

Januarary / February 2007

  • In January 2007 the PKF national hotel sample achieved a 49.8% occupancy level, a 0.9 percentage point increase from January 2006.  The most significant provincial occupancy increases were reported in the Yukon (up 11.8 points), Manitoba (up 4.0 points), and Saskatchewan (up 3.6 points).  In February 2007, PKF’s national hotel sample reported a 59.9% occupancy level, an increase of 0.8 percentage points from February 2006. 
  • In January 2007, the national average daily room rate for hotels tracked by PKF increased by 4.6% from January 2006 to $116.83.  The national average daily room rate for February 2007 was $120.66, an increase of 4.3% over February 2006.
  • Revenue per available room for PKF’s sample rose by 6.6% to $58.18 in January 2007 while RevPAR increased to $72.33 in February 2007, 5.7% higher than February 2006.
