What are some of the key factors, which differentiate us from our
competitors?
- None of our competitors can claim the same degree
of consistent senior level service to the hospitality industry
in Canada.
Internationally
PKF has been serving the needs of the hospitality and tourism
industry for over 100 years and was officially formed in Canada
in 1970. All five of the Canadian Directors and Principals operating
out of our Toronto and Vancouver offices have been with the firm
since the
late 1970’s and early 1980’s (a minimum of 20 years). These
five associates have well over 100 years of combined hospitality
and tourism industry operational, development and financing experience.
- We bring the international expertise of PKF Worldwide (380
offices in 119 countries) to our projects.
The two Canadian consulting offices
and our ten U.S. consulting offices focus totaling on serving
the needs of the hospitality and tourism
industry in North America and are supported by similar consulting
practices in the
United Kingdom, Europe, Asia and Caribbean. For more information
on consulting practices in the United Kingdom please click
here.
- None of our competitors
are as active as ourselves in providing services to the industry.
In addition to providing advisory services to developers
of new projects, over the last four years, we have provided
advisory services to owners,
operators, purchasers and lenders on over $4.0 billion of existing
hotel assets.
- While our competitors monitor the industry, none maintain
or have direct
access to a comprehensive database such as ours.
On an annual basis
about 550 properties (100,000 rooms) provide us with their
detailed operating statements, for our publication, Trends
in the Hotel Industry - Canadian Operations Report. On a monthly
basis over 1,000
properties (175,000 rooms) provide us with their occupancy
statistics, average daily rates and room revenue per available room,
for our
publication, Trends in the Hotel Industry - National Market
Report.
Our databases have been in place for over 20 years. While we
respect the confidentiality of individual property data, we have
the ability
to examine the top line, operating structure and bottom line
performance of
these individual properties, and bring that knowledge to our
engagements.
- Our firm and our staff have received industry accreditation,
maintain extensive involvement with the industry and provide constant
feedback
to the industry
Our directors, principals and professional staff
are members of the Institute of Certified Management Consultants
of Canada, having either
acquired their
Certified Management Consultant designation or working towards it. The
firm conforms to the Uniform Code of Professional Conduct of the
Consulting Institute – in
other words, we conduct business in an ethical and honest manner in the
best interests of our clients.
We are members in over 30 industry
associations across Canada, and are actively involved in speaking
at or attending their many
conferences and workshops. We believe it is important to keep
in touch with and
to provide
feedback to the industry.
In addition to our database publications,
PKF prepares annual industry Outlooks for the Canadian Accommodation
industry. These outlooks are published
in our Monthly Trends Report, in Hotelier Magazine’s Hospitality
Market Report and are directly presented to our key industry clients at
PKF’s Annual Outlook Forums held annually in the fall in both
Toronto and Vancouver. The firm is also a proud sponsor of the annual
Canadian
Hotel Investment Conference.
Our knowledge, our experience and our
databases are unprecedented.
