Internationally
PKF has been serving the needs of the hospitality and tourism industry
for over 100 years and was officially formed in Canada
in 1970. All five of the Canadian Directors and Principals operating
out of our Toronto and Vancouver offices have been with the firm since
the late 1970’s and early 1980’s (a minimum of 20 years). These
five associates have well over 100 years of combined hospitality
and tourism industry operational, development and financing experience.
David
Larone – Director Toronto
A graduate of the University of Guelph,
David joined PKF in 1975. He has been a partner and director at
PKF Canada for over 20 years.
Since that time he has been instrumental in the development of
the Canadian practice. Actively involved in all aspects of consulting to
the
hospitality
and tourism industry, David concentrates his activities in the
areas of asset evaluation and asset strategy; hotel valuations
and acquisition
due diligence/underwriting; management contract and franchise
negotiation. However, David’s knowledge and experience is also more broadly
based, touching on a diverse range of topics including resort development
and operations, tourism marketing and promotion and property taxation.
Brian
Stanford – Director Toronto
Brian joined PKF in 1980 and became
a partner/director in 1990. During his tenure with PKF, Brian has
worked extensively with the hotel and resort
sector nationally and provincially in undertaking numerous operational
reviews, market studies and appraisals. Brian has also been responsible
for the majority of the major portfolio work undertaken by PKF.
Brian is one of only six Canadian’s accepted into the International
Society of Hospitality Consultants. The ISHC is a professional society of
170 members in 16 countries who are leading consultants in the hospitality
industry.
Brian is also a member of the Institute of Management Consultants
of Ontario and has acquired his Certified Management
Consultant designation.
Fran
Hohol – Principal Toronto
Fran graduated from Wilfrid Laurier
University with her MA in Geography and joined PKF in 1985. Fran
manages the tourism practice for the firm,
undertaking numerous Market Feasibility Studies, Business Plans,
Strategic Plans, Marketing Strategies and Industry Assessments
for both private and
public sector clients. Fran also manages PKF’s database on the Canadian
accommodation industry – which is the most comprehensive database
of this kind in Canada.
Fran is a past Board member of the Canadian
chapter of the Travel and Tourism Research Association, and currently
sits on the Tourism Committee
for the Economic Development Council of Ontario. Fran is also a
member of the Institute of Management Consultants of Ontario, having acquired
her Certified Management Consultant designation in 1993.
Beth
Walters –Director Vancouver
Beth is a Director with PKF Consulting
and been with the firm since 1978 and has been responsible for
the Western Canada practice since
1988. She has conducted numerous market and financial feasibility
studies, valuations, appraisals and asset management advice to
businesses in the
tourism and hospitality industry. Beth’s experience includes
extensive work with lodging facilities including resorts, hotels, limited
service properties and inns, under a myriad of types of ownership
such as prepaid
investment, strata title and traditional ownership structures.
She has a wide variety of project experience related to the food
and beverage
industry including facilities in hotels, golf and private clubs,
banquet and catering facilities, free standing restaurants, food
service chains,
neighbourhood pubs and cabarets and night clubs. She has been
involved with studies for conference centres, convention centres and
assembly space of all sizes. Beth has diverse experience in tourism
business such as attractions, spas and RV parks and campgrounds.
